DIRECTV’s newest HDTV (high-definition) receiver – the H21 – is now available from KVH. This new model replaces the H20, which has been discontinued by DIRECTV.
This model of the KVH H21-200 HDTV DirecTV Receiver runs on a 110V system and includes an IR remote.
The H21 offers all of the same great features as the H20. However, there are a few differences between the two models:
- Unlike the H20, the H21 does not include a built-in ATSC tuner. That means customers will not be able to connect an over-the-air antenna. The H21 is limited to a satellite input only.
- The H21 power cord has a two-prong plug, rather than a three-prong plug. Therefore, you will need to ground the receiver chassis to AC ground to provide a ground path for the TracVision antenna and to provide lightning protection. Alternatively, you can ground the antenna by installing a grounding block in-line with the antenna’s RF cable(s).
- Although the H21 comes with a standard IR remote control, it has the built-in capability to receive commands from an RF remote as well. This is an improvement over the H20, which requires an external RF antenna/converter. Therefore, if you need an RF remote control, be sure to order the correct RF remote kit for the model of your receiver.
